Dr. Sophia Bakogianni is a Qualitative Research Collaborator at CyCAT, Open University of Cyprus. She holds a PhD in Social Information Systems from the Open University of Cyprus, where her doctoral research, titled “Understanding Museum Social Media Experiences”, examined how users engage with and experience museum content on social media platforms. She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Communication, Media and Culture, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, where her research focuses on the evaluation of users’ XR experiences in virtual cultural environments. In her main position, she works as an Archaeologist - Art Historian at the Directorate of Modern Cultural and Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. She also serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Open University of Cyprus in the MA “Cultural Policy and Development”. She holds an MA in History of Art from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MA in Cultural Organizations Management and an MA in Education from the Hellenic Open University. Her main research interests include qualitative research methods, museum social media, human-AI interaction, digital cultural heritage, and users’ experiences in extended reality (XR) environments.
