About CyCAT
The Cyprus Center for Trustworthy AI (CyCAT) is hosted at the Open University of Cyprus, the second public university in Cyprus and the only one dedicated to open and distance education.
CyCAT aims at educating non-technical audiences on data science and AI, the team leverages its expertise in designing highly interactive online modules for adult learners, as well as in conducting both small- and large-scale studies on Human-AI interaction.
Our Key Objectives:
- Promote digital and AI literacy through raising citizens’ awareness of the ways AI systems are developed, trained and perform.
- Develop computational methods, personalized tools, and innovative training programs to support the responsible and trustworthy development and deployment of AI.
- Promote a culture of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) to ensure ethical AI practices.

Maria Kasinidou, PhD candidate at the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and Research Associate at the Cyprus Center for Trustworthy AI (CyCAT), participated in the 31st ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2026), held in July 2026, where she presented her research and contributed to the conference as a member of the organizing committee.

We are pleased to announce our official renaming to Cyprus Center for Trustworthy AI (CyCAT). This change reflects our evolving focus on promoting AI literacy, enabling individuals to recognize AI, use it effectively, evaluate its impact, and assess it within ethical frameworks.
Our new name better aligns with our mission and reinforces our commitment to educating and informing the public about AI, as well as developing methods and tools for the creation of trustworthy AI systems in collaboration with researchers worldwide.
