The 31st ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2026)

Maria Kasinidou, PhD candidate at the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and Research Associate at the Cyprus Center for Trustworthy AI (CyCAT), participated in the 31st ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2026), held in July 2026, where she presented her research and contributed to the conference as a member of the organizing committee.

Maria presented the paper “Participatory Design of Educational Tools with Teachers to Address Children’s AI Misconceptions,” co-authored with Dr Styliani Kleanthous and Prof Jahna Otterbacher. The paper explores the use of participatory design with teachers to inform the development of educational tools that address children’s misconceptions about artificial intelligence. She also participated in the ITiCSE 2026 working group “Towards Improving CS Students’ Generative AI Literacy,” collaborating with researchers from around the world to explore approaches for improving generative AI literacy among computer science students. An extended abstract outlining the goals and intended outcomes of the working group is currently available on ACM Digital Library (https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3803401.3812055), with the full working group paper expected to be published in the ITiCSE 2026 proceedings later this year.

In addition to her research contributions, Maria served as the Website Coordinator on the ITiCSE 2026 organizing committee, contributing to the organization of the conference.
